During this press conference, the director of the collective behind the book Lachute, terroir de souvenirs! proudly announced a new donation of $4,038.44, in addition to the $5,000 already donated last December to the Argenteuil Hospital Foundation (AHF), bringing the total contribution to $9,038.44. This initiative reflects a deep attachment to the community and a concrete commitment to supporting local healthcare services.
Born from a personal reflection that began more than five years ago, this literary project is rooted in a desire to pass on the richness of the French language and Quebec culture. Through her many roles — teacher, author, and communicator — the project’s instigator has always promoted these essential pillars of societal development. The book pays tribute to Lachute, a vibrant town where memories, history, and collective identity intersect.
Lachute, terroir de souvenirs! is a collaborative work bringing together citizens from all walks of life: writers, teachers, artists, business owners, and residents. Together, they helped create a true living heritage by sharing fragments of their memories. The book pursues five main objectives: encouraging people to write about Lachute, preserving cultural heritage, promoting reading, reviving memories, and giving back to the community.

Funds raised through book sales are donated to the AHF and, combined with other contributions, will support the renovation of the hospital’s palliative care rooms. These improvements aim to provide a more humane, peaceful, and dignified environment for end-of-life patients and their loved ones.
The project continues with the preparation of a second volume, already well underway, which will feature new stories and testimonials. Profits from this upcoming book will be donated to Citad’Elle de Lachute, an organization that supports women and children affected by domestic violence, further expanding the initiative’s social impact.
In summary, this book goes beyond literature: it has become a vehicle for solidarity, collective memory, and social engagement. Thanks to citizen involvement and the Foundation’s support, it powerfully demonstrates how culture can be transformed into a concrete act of mutual aid and hope for an entire community.
